After having her two children, Alison was told by many people to ‘make sure you make time for yourself’. So she joined an art class, and from there she hasn’t looked back.
She fell in love with using coloured pencils as her primary medium, as she loves their ability to create lots of fine details and produce bright, vivid colours. She also enjoys experimenting with other materials, from pastel to linocut printing, and everything in between.
Alison is constantly inspired by, and is always in awe of the beauty found in nature. No two flowers, even from the same plant are ever exactly the same and this creates endless possibilities and beautiful subject matter. She enjoys the challenge of recreating and interpreting the different textures of flowers in particular, and producing artwork using only pencil, that you feel like you could reach out and touch.
