Sheena Hanrahan
Sheena has been painting and drawing figures and portraits for over twenty years. Recent work focuses on mixed media, ink and watercolour. Taking photos with strong light and shadow as a starting point for imagery has become a key feature of Sheena’s visual style. Her practice also has a strong focus on drawing which underpins all of her artwork. Colour and tone are added with ink and watercolour exploring the relationship between structured lines and shapes with the subtle qualities of wash.
Sheena had a solo show at Brunswick Street Gallery in 2009 and has participated in group exhibitions at galleries such as Steps, Port Art, Linden and 69 Smith Street.
Sheena completed a degree in Fine Art Painting at the Victorian College of the Arts and a Post Graduate Certificate in Graphic Design at Holmesglen TAFE. She is currently a secondary Art teacher at Alia College and has been a member of TAM since 2015.
Since 2010 Sheena has been reinventing her studio practice, finding ways to make art, while juggling family life as a mother of three young children.
