'In the Pink'

A Thou Art Mum exhibition of diverse artworks, exploring the colour pink

Plan a special Mother’s Day with family and experience Thou Art Mum exhibition, ‘In The Pink’, firsthand at historic Montsalvat, Eltham, between 2-27 May 2018. Open every day from 9am-5pm, entry to the Long Gallery is free.

In The Pink: idiom, in very good health, in perfect condition. The colour pink symbolises unconditional love, compassion and understanding. Warm, tender and nurturing, it is also a sign of comfort and hope. ‘In The Pink’ is a presentation of more than 40 works by 27 visual artists who are mothers, each with a unique perspective on the colour pink. This multidisciplinary art show is proudly supporting preventative breast and ovarian health organisation, Pink Hope, to empower women to know their risk and change their future.

Member-artist and Secretary, Melisa Savickas, said, “'In The Pink' is an art show with a heart, showcasing the talents of local women artists in the Nillumbik and Banyule Shires who happen to be mothers. For me, the opportunity to showcase my work is an honour and pleasure, especially since the theme also embraces the issues of women's health and self-awareness. Vice President, Natalie Lawson, said,“My inspiration for ‘In the Pink’ is the empowerment of women; a movement forward, unencumbered by negativity, be it self-directed or imposed by others. It's my intention to create work that is thought provoking and positive for the viewer.”

Exhibition Opening: 3 May, 6.30-8.30pm

President, Kirstin Bowden, Pink Hope Programs Manager, Sue Jones, and Exhibition Leader & Pink Hope Ambassador, Pascale Garlinge, will officially open the show.

Upcoming Exhibition - What Lies Beneath 2017

A conceptual exhibition by Thou Art Mum exploring the theme of layers.

Long Galley, Montsalvat - 7 Hillcrest Ave Eltham                                  3rd - 29th May 2017

Layers exist in a myriad of physical, intellectual and superficial forms.

The natural world is constructed by layers, from rock formations to the design of plants and animals. We attire ourselves in layers, expressing ourselves through them, hiding behind them, and exploring our creativity within them.

We ourselves are a direct result of layers, from the skin on our bodies to the structure of our cells. Our surface layers experience alteration with time, while our minds collect experiences which compile to form our unique personalities.

Join our artists as they use their own unique perspective of layers to explore the ordinary and unravel the remarkable.

Exhibition Opening: 4 May, 6.30pm - 8.30pm.

Member artist Helen Platania will officially open the exhibition. All welcome. Light refreshments provided.
